Clare & Jamie

Post by tut » Fri Jul 13, 2012 1:53 pm

Now that Clare is working for Shell in Dubai, and Jamie is getting continuous diving work, they have moved into a new three bedroom flat in Dubai that is in a good location. It is costing them a packet but as it is a new build and prices are below what they were, they reckon it is worth it especially for the views.

Verian was over there in May, but I have not seen her since December, but she is coming over in two weeks for a holiday, and I am planning to go out in November when it is cooler. It certainly did not look like this when I was last there in '77, this is the view from the lounge.

I think the Burj Khalifa is not only an incredible piece of engineering, but it is beautiful as well. Happily have that as my backdrop. Love the way that it makes the other Skyscrapers look so small.

I used to read a lot of Science Fiction until the Internet came along, and that is straight out of Arthur C. Clarke.

No way that I would want to live in Dubai Jim, but looking forward to going out for a couple of weeks. My closest friend, Steve Watson from '63 when we joined the Royal Marines together, then Oman, then Bristows, bought a flat there when he retired, which was ideal for Clare and Jamie as they had somewhere to stay for free to see if it would work out for them.

Recognise the view. Is it near The Address Hotel, Dubai Mall by any chance? I love Dubai!
