Metal plate help.

Post by tut » Fri May 04, 2012 1:01 pm

I need a piece of metal sheet around 1mtr square, to fill in the present fireplace hole behind the new stove.

It only needs to be thin alloy, tin, or S/S, anything fireproof, but googling on line is just bringing up silly prices. Any help appreciated.

Thanks Graeme, although you have already been a fantastic help with the MMC discs.

I am sure that I could sort something out with the S_E shuttle service.

Cheers

The 6" flue exits from the back of the stove so would go through. I do in fact have plasterboard with a shiny tin side, but i would have to do it in two pieces, and would prefer a single piece.

I get all my sheet metal from a place in Bridge of Don, it's on Broadfield road just down from Autosave. Sorry, can't remember the name of the place (i'll edit post if i remember). Reasonable prices and they deliver.

Sounds good Scotty, will post you a pic of the empty fireplace and the measurements.

ps:- if this works then I could well be in TT for the foreseable future. Promised her that the house would always be warm, and this should do it at a hell of a lot less than the oil. Just bought her a soft closing toilet seat, and it has a great sensing lamp on it that lights up at night green if the seat is down, and red if it is up, so also makes sure that I hit the centre every time.

Fortunately AA batteries Iain.

However as you lot will find out as you get older if you ever live that long, you may have to get up a couple of times a night for a pee, Scotty twice that, so being a considerate husband, it means that I do not have to put a light on and wake up V.

Next move is to fit up a heater in the water itself, as it does get a bit cold on the bell end when you are standing there in the early hours of the morning.
