SE has given me great pleasure since I became part of it not long after it started, ( back in the old SE 1 days) and I have made many good friends from it. Robin, Kelvin, Campbell, Lawrence (rip), Scotty, Tut, Peter, Ross,Brian J,(rip) Andy, Graeme,Shug, Iain F, Walshy, Tony, Mike, WankR, Shoomer, JIm, Dutch Bob, Iain T, and many more.
Trips like Stelvio 2001, 2003, all the TT events,The various SERT trips, numerous other track day trips, and road runs ( in the good old days) rank as some of the best fun I have had with great comeraderie, a fair bit of booze, and most of all driving fantastic cars!
I remember being at the Geneva show press launch of the Elise, in 1996, when Britt Eckland pulled the covers off the car, I vowed then I would have one. A couple of years later, Robin was parking his silver Elise in George St Edinburgh, and after introducing myself, and listening to him waxing lyrical about it, I had to have one!
I bought my first S1 in may 2000, and since then have been privelidged to own 4 different Elise's, a 340r, an Evora, and now a1969 Élan +2S. My old school pal Iain B, who I converted to Elise ownership back in 2004, has also owned many since then, and rapidly became a very keen SE'er.
When you are on holiday, doing sweet f all, it gives time to reflect on good times in the past, hence this waffle to co-incide with my one thousandth post!
Long way to go to catch up with many of the other names's post counts!
I am now raising my glass in the sun to toast SE, past and future!
