Morning,
Just a wee warning that last saturday there was a scamera van parked on the A939,(the last turning off to braemar before you get to the lecht). It was sitting looking uphill on the biggest straight on the road.
To be honest it really put the sh*ts up me, i always thought these roads were fair game for some fun but looks like you still need to be careful, especially since you'll loose your licence at 90. God knows why they feel the need to police the most isolated bit of road i can think of!

Because they are twats who can sit there and drink coffee instead of getting a real job.

ps note, they are not police officers, radar guns are fair enough if they are used for the correct reason in the right places.

The 'safety camera' squad used to be based in the unit next to us in the industrial estate.
It's fair to say that they're not 'proper coppers'. They'll still hit you with points, fine, ban etc though.....

The problem is they give the police a bad name.
Despite all the propaganda they spit out that they improve road safety, we know that they are not placed at danger spots, purely where they will generate the most revenue. Every time I see one I fantasise that Arnie is striding down on it with a FBG.

Far from sticking up for them but they have so many rules re: where it is legal to sit.
x amount of visibility etc.

Anywhere.
Parking places, grass verges, cross roads, if they can not place the van, they park it out of site and put a mobile camera on a tripod by the side of the road. Actually got out of the car last year at the Echt cross roads where the set up looked like a traffic accident and told them what I thought of it.

I recently undertook a AA Speed Awareness course rather than taking 3 points for 36 in a 30 going through Belsy on the A68. Not got the time to go through all the details as I would probably get them wrong but I 100% agree with all English camera vans as I had the rules of engagement for them clearly explained. Scotland unfortunately has very different rules
