I am a bit disturbed at the top speed of my Exige...it is way slower than the 111r...maybe the fly by wire throttle.

How many tuts does anyone else get in an S2 Exige? Mines only about 140...

Top speed of a 111R is 149mph IIRC so with the extra weight and aerodynamics the Exige should be slower. Probably doesn't stop Lotus saying it's the same as the 111R though.

I have hazy recollection of reading something on SELC*CK about the fly-by-wire throttles not opening fully for some owners. ECU re-flash solved it, so get MMC to have a gander with the check tool and see what opening you are getting....

This is greyrigg:

I assume he's been testing between races, or on closed private test tracks....

I was never too happy at the thought of Lotus using fly by wire...Lotus and electronics never fill me with confidence but even my wife's defender is fly by wire.

Here's a more up to date picture from the weekend at Spa....same result as 2004 Dijon....well chuffed :-)

Why not come along to the RR session - and see what it tops out in there - obviously there won't be wind resistance but it'll give a base line.

I assume you're using 5th gear for vmax runs...

8.5K rpm in 5th = 147.9 mph

Yip...5th gear and it is struggling. I think the throttle thing will need looking at so will arrange to get this checked....my 'test track' has a huge straight so it should max out for a good while.

Mine is old style throttle - ran easily up to indicated 140 with something stll to go.

Agree Lotus figures say Exige is slightly slower on top speed due to downforce.

Still think that is enough to drop a 98 S1 ?

Depends if you chuck a box o' pro-plus in with the full-caff colombian......
