I do have an Elise, honest...

Post by Shug » Mon May 16, 2011 9:54 pm

Strikes me as funny that there's a good proportion of members have joined while my car has been off the road... April last year was when I took it off the road for 'a month or so' to finally sort my bodged electrics. I got so p*ssed off with it that it ended up getting shunted to Craig at MMC for a bit. Sterling work they did, too. Wiring loom bears no comparison now to the horrible bodge job that it had been...

Last summer was really taken up with the bike - so no time or energy to do anything with the Elise. Finally got sick of it sitting rotting in my mums driveway and did the final few jobs (have been gradually recommissioning stuff over the past few weeks) and checked it over for MOT at the weekend. Insured today, MOT booked tomorrow. So, should have a road legal car (taxed if the cover note arrives) tomorrow.

Gonna make a point of getting the thing on the road much more this year - it'll be 9 years in my care next month and I'm still excited about getting back in it. Guess that must mean it's a keeper, eh?

A heart-warming tale. I guess the bike was newish last year, so took precedence, whereas now the initial excitement has died down you can share the fun between them.

I just drove Egor for the first time in nearly two years, ignoring running it around the block two months back to check the brakes :-)

It's off to get a geo tomorrow, already has an MOT (thanks Mark/Ali) and insurance and will be getting the sh*t kicked out of it at Oulton Park on Friday. If it doesn't break it'll be getting tyres and a few other bits and bobs before French Frolic in the summer, then probably back in the garage for the best part of a year ... unless it gets taken to some sort of Donkey Punch at the end of the year.

I still love the car, just not really got the time to do much with it, but that will change eventually and then I'll be glad I still have it.

Cheers,
Robin

It's funny, i keep looking at an S1 as a long termer, thinking "Will it go down in value, or just hover about the same?"

But i'm looking at it all wrong. fcuk the monetary value, it's never gonna go down in driving pleasure value.

Buy it, keep it, look after it and drive the tits off it every time you forget what life is about. It's got to be a very nice thing to have.

Alhough mine hasnt been off the road, i did a pitiful amount of miles last year and i started this year determined to use it more.

Even a blast up to inverness yesterday was good fun and reminded me how the chassis can enliven any dull journey. ive had mine 6 years now and it still makes me grin like an idiot.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?
