What kind are you viewing, different questions would be relevant I would assume for an s1 in comparison to an s2 etc. Here's a link for a starter, related to the s1 but may give you some food for thought.

Here is another option if you can obtain the relevant details from the owner.

http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/j ... equest.jsp

You will see the millege at each MOT which will give you an indication of the use per year. It will give you details of any fails or advisories which will let you see any issues which have cropt up and an idea of what may have been replaced recently etc.

in all the pics in the emails i was sent it looks in tip top condition and im gonna get a spin in it tomorrow to see what it drives like,

I will ask to see the mot etc and check what miles have been done the past few years though, thanks for that one. :thumbsup

I wouldn't be so happy viewing a car in that manner. I mean there is likely no issues at all with it but my preference would be to meet at the sellers house, I would want to have a good look at the car absolutely stone cold and see it start up from there. Maybe I'm just paranoid and may not make so much difference but if a seller suggested meeting anywhere but his house I would have alarm bells ringing and not seeing it from cold.

It is probably all in order and I am just very weary when spending my cash but again just things to think about.

Total agreement with above

Car MUST be at owner's house - also check that the V5 has the same address on it.

Car should be cold.

Also get finance (HPI?) check done on car - if he owes the finance company money and doesn't pay up they can take the car away from you !!

I couldnt agree more - it always sounds a bit dodgy meeting someone in a services/hotel car park. Is there no way you can get through to falkirk? meet the guy at his house, and as Scott says look at the car cold, and start up from there.

I always think you can tell alot about the person you are buying from, going on their house. Doesnt need to be a huge manor type house, just well kept, tidy etc.

That should be OK for me then if I ever sell, as long as they look at the house and not me.
