The only thing I remotely considered was a scooby but that was before I realised I could afford to keep my other car and buy an Elise.

Didn't consider anything else once I'd driven one :D

about 6 years ago, when i first started earning, i looked around to see what i really fancied.
wanted something properly sporty, racecar-ish.
the elise drew me ;)
so did porche 911 - but thats a pipe dream

ended up getting a scooby a couple years later. great car, but it didnt satisfy the feeling i wanted when driving. so back to pining after elise.
if i was being sensible, i should never have bought the elise, but didnt want a "what if".
So got one now :)
now that i have one - i can see me progressing to more extreme versions of sports cars eventually, but the particular elise i have now suits me fine.

must admit, the Ariel Atom looks really special - so may end with that type of machine once i have the sports "car" bit out of my system. might not tho.

I tend to get the feeling I want a new car when I've read good reports in Autocar several times, and the shape drives me mad, so when I kept reading about the 111R, I knew it was inevitable, even though I couldn't afford it.

So, test drive arranged, I was completely hooked and agreed there and then to do the deed. No other cars tested - No regrets - No idea how I'm going to pay for it over time....

Scooby, Leon Cupra R and CTR...
I look at Autotrader most days to see whatI can buy but nothing seems to get me excited.

Quite fancy a Scooby UK300 but wonder how long it would take to get bored of it.

My mate has a Bug eye scooby...love the noise they make but it's just too boring.

Was looking at a classic 911, funnily enough...

Nothing else really hits the spot tho, does it?

I lost my driving licence for six years, along with my Pilots Licence full stop.

When I got it back in 1999, I thought I will get a nice comfy, quick Jag or BMW. I did not even know what an Elise was, just that it had a puny 118hp Rover engine, and only did 125mph.

Next minute I had bought one in Berkshire over the Internet, never even having seen one, never mind sit in or drive one.

Work that one out, cos I canna.

The rest as they say is History.........

I did not consider any other car when I was buying my Elise - as soon as I had driven it I knew I had to have one. In fact, even before that I was pretty smitten the first time I clapped eyes on an S2. Previous toy was a 2 litre Zetec Westfield - lots of fun, and for a while I did consider a Westfield Seight, as it is such an appealingly mad car, but just too unusable. Never had even the remotest desire to own a Scooby. A great all rounder as an only car, but very uninvolving to drive compared to the Elise, and I couldn't bring myself to run something so plug ugly. Quite fancy the new Cosworth engined Caterham, but a voice in my head keeps saying Exige.....
