I've been offered a nice wee trip to the rugby on Sat, however I'll already be down in Fife.

So options are

A - meet the bus somewhere, join them for lunch the match and get dropped off at the car on the way back.
or
B - Meet at the luch spot and drive in park and go to game.

I'll be driving either way and not fussed, but option A is less hassle. I'm just not sure where I could meet the bus and leave the car without any problems with parking fines over 2 hours etc. The best 2 options I could think of were Kinross services or the Permier inn on the south side of the fourth road bridge. Any better suggestions?

On the B option any suggestions for parking within reasonable walking distance - don't mind a walk or paying as long as it's straight forward and likley to be available. Any suggestions welcome.

option 1 for sure Kerry, park and ride at North Queensferry would be a good place, nice and secure, free and easy for them to collect and drop off

Traffic can be heavy on Edin rugby days and the streets near the stadium are very clogged with thousands of happy rugger fans all gambolling along, so negates a lot of benefit of trying to use the car. I suspect your vengabus will be dropping off somewhere fairly close to Murrayfield, perhaps even with a bit of "priority" to get it through the crowds.

So I like Ally's suggestion of the N Queensferry Park and Ride, probably a much better environment to leave the car in, and they only charge when you are on the P&R bus I think...no barriers etc for exit from the car park (at least not in the ones I know nearer to Edin...best check?)

There's also the park and ride at Kinross near Sainsbury's. I have left my civic there overnight on a couple of occasions.

I think Ferrytoll a North Queensferry is still the best option. Large multistory and all buses going over the bridge pass through there. Your car will be as safe there as anywhere.

Depending on where in Fife you're coming from and where lunch is, you might be easier just jumping on a train and getting off at Haymarket - it's only about a 10 min walk to Murrayfield from there

Last time I went to a 6 Nations Game I left the car @ the Gyle Shopping Centre and jumped on the bus. Worked really well plus free parking

A car is just a pain if you're trying to get anywhere near Murrayfield on a match day.

Also Park & Ride at the airport if you are interested.

My cousin used it yesterday, no complaints.

No point in taking a car into Edinburgh, trying to park and then trying to join the traffic leaving after the game.

Thanks Ferry Toll it is, I presume it is well sign posted - no point in hiding a park and ride. So looking forward to it.

Big VMS (Variable Message Sign, not an ageing DEC operating system) even shows number of spaces available as you glide down the M90. Or rather, stop-start your way if it's morning rush-hour.

Park at Dalgety Bay rail station (free & 5 mins from the A90) and get the train straight to Haymarket 25 mins. Inverkeithing is slightly closer but you pay for parking there.
