Graeme from MMC here - leaving MMC

Post by GraemeLotus » Mon Dec 06, 2010 8:02 pm

Hello folks

Well most of you know me - in fact in some cases it's because of me you're on here...! So it's all my fault...

After 10 years of selling Lotuses for Murray Motor Co - and making it one of Europe's largest Lotus dealers - the time has come to do something else, which I can't quite confirm as yet for a host of reasons I'll explain later (probably in person to some of you over the next few weeks I would imagine......!)

I'd just like to say that it been a complete pleasure, and privilege, to represent these wonderful cars for the country, and that I have met some fantastic people doing it, many of whom I'm delighted to have as friends, and many of whom are on here. The late John Martin Jnr introduced me to some of the SE stalwarts - Tut, Robin, Lawrence, Del, Campbell, and others, a month before I started the job in January 2000 - and said "these are the guys you have to look after", and I've tried to make that the basis of doing Lotus business ever since.

I thought there was a wonderful sense of irony in finally joining on here - after 10 years of lurking and directing literally hundreds of people here - and that way I'd get a chance to say - thanks folks, I couldn't have done it without you....!

I literally have a lump in my throat as I type this, and there will doubtless be a few tears shed before I finish up on December 30th, but you'll be pleased to hear my new role will still involve Lotuses...so see, I'm not really going that far away at all.....

This should really be in Newbies, but, if the Mods can forgive me, we'll try and get them a deal over the next few weeks, eh?

Last but not least, my mobile - 0 7 7 6 5 2 5 2 7 4 5 - is the same as the one you've all been using, and has been on my business card, for many years; it's my personal one, so please continue to use it.

Cheers, Graeme

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Graeme, never did buy a car from you, but closer to it that you might ever have believed. Nevertheless you always made me feel welcome when I was in the showroom whether picking up my car from a service or just a nosey. Really grateful for a test drive in an evora earlier this year.

There's no doubt you will be a big loss to MMC and a real asset to who whatever you are up to next.

Best of luck in your new role :cheers

My fascination with all things Lotus started in earnest with a test drive with you in a yellow S1 many moons ago. Bought 2 new Loti from MMC since, and I am planning to buy another Exige next year, so it is indeed all your fault :D

Best of luck in the new venture.

Sorry to hear your leaving MMC. A big loss for them, but hopefully the start of something great for yourself.
Good to hear you'll still be involved with Lotus though.

Good luck
Duggie

Graeme - sound like the new move is interesting - I'm trying to read into what you've written, but coming up with too many options

I'm glad I bought my 111R from you - you converted me from a 111S, by saying "you'll like this a lot better" (which I did). You always made a visit into the showroom interesting and pleasant, despite the early starts from Aberdeen and long days wandering about (baltic) Edinburgh.

Good luck in your new "Lotus position".

Graeme, really sorry to hear this - the showroom won't be the same without you, that's if there still is a showroom :-(

Cheers,
Robin
