Vets

Post by tut » Sat Aug 21, 2010 2:19 pm

For anybody in the Aberdeenshire area with pets, I can not recommend Donview Vet Center in Inverurie highly enough, mainly because our very own Smee, Andrew Smith, is a veterinary surgeon there.

We had Zara speyed this week, no idea how GSD/Lurcher puppies would turn out, so not even contemplating it, but usual scenario, if it is a friend you feel far happier with the outcome. Andrew said that because it was our dog he had never been so nervous, but by the next morning she was back to normal and trying to play fight with Khan, but we have to keep her calm for ten days, and neither of them can understand why. We had her dew claws removed and claws trimmed at the same time whilst she was under sedation, and also her injections, so great result all round.

Just another example of the expertise and helpfulness that is available on here.

ps he is getting married to his fiancee who is also a vet, next weekend whilst we are on our Campaganza, so would like to wish them both a great day and all the best for their future.

We've been using them since we moved out here. Always a great friendly service :)

Thank you all for the kind words but you can stop now as I'm turning pink and also waiting for the wave of comments of people who have bad experiences at vets!

Thats a coincidence Andrew that you live in Inverurie. Years ago my Dad was manager of Cairnbrogie and then Denend Farm. Our Vet and a very good family friend was Colin Ironside and he lived in Inverurie. My Dad died in 1966 and we moved away from the area but was back and saw Colin around about 1977. Always wonder what his kids are doing know. I am sure there names were Colin, Bruce and Gillian.

Best wishes for you wedding

People still speak very highly of Colin Ironside although I never got to meet him.

Thought that I had posted Scotty. After the kids left home, Khan was lying around during the day looking a bit miserable, he really missed them, so Verian suggested that we get a smallish Heinz 57 bitch from a Rescue Compound. Not much suitable, but Verian found one on Yewtree. Young lassie haveing a career change had a cross Lurcher/Collie, did not want to put it to kennels, so was looking for a good home. We agreed to take Zara on for a week to see how she got on with Khan. Result was fantastic, they love each other to bits, spend half the day play fighting and tearing around the front garden, and chase rabbits together at Aikey Bray.

She is a lovely little dog, settled straight in, likes lots of cuddles, but strong as hell and does not give an inch to Khan. Bonus is that he is now eating far better, and though she is the same age at two, she can still wear him out and is even faster than he is.

As much as we can make her Andrew, but she is a right bitch.

I walk Khan on his own and she stays in, but we can not keep her quiet as she does not realise there is anything wrong with her. Do our best to stop her playing, but of course we can not hold her down, and the ten days are up tomorrow.
