Car dilema - 430 replacement

Post by Andy G » Wed Jul 14, 2010 2:12 pm

Hi Guys

Thought this might be a decent thread/fun as I try to work out what I'm going to do to replace the 430, which went last week.

I've not had much time to do anything so far, but here's the current shortlist;

Gallardo Superleggera
Porsche GT2 (997)
Porsche GT3 /GT3 RS (997)
430 Scuderia
Audi R8

Now so far, I've had people suggesting things from LP640's to Xj220's!

The criteria is as follows;

Must be a decent road & track car
Must have rarity
Must have decent residuals (i've to try and better the mere £2k loss i took on the 430 :thumbsup )
Must be pain-free ownership wise (if its Italian I'll be buying one of those dehumidifying car cacoon thingies)

Anyway, thought it might be interesting to open this up and see what ideas, thoughts, and experiences came up. Oh and if Mr Boag wants to do the negotiating :thumbsup :cheers

I'm off to see a Superleggera on the way home from Brands on Tuesday, after some work meetings :D

Superleg or Scud...others too :tired

(I'm considering your shy retiring personality) :wink:

I'm sure they'd all be great, you fairly have the tough choices mate!

You've ticked the Ferrari box, I'm firmly in the Superleg camp. I'd imagine that because it's more of an Audi than a Fiat, you might be surprised at the fit and quality of the components too.

(Sorry Peter) R8 is too sensible for you, Porsches are a bit meh. The GT3 would be an awesome track car, but would it really give so much more entertainment on track vs the 340, to justify the extra consumables? Plus, it won't be as good a road car as the others - I know the superleg is supposed to be a stripped out track version, but it isn't really, is it? GT2 is supposed to be pretty straight-suited, nothing like the old 993 GT1 Homologation special widow maker.

So, Lambo.

Still, knowing you, you'll probably find an excellent deal on a Zonda somewhere :lol:

Given that the 430's brakes were cack on track, and knowing how you tend to drive :roll: won't brakes be an issue on all these cars (unless any of them have ceramics :shock: )? My pick out of that lot would be GT2.

Justin didn't you have a Gallardo? I work with Al See and was just speaking to him about you.

Toyota Previa, 4WD, supercharged.

Cannot go far wrong with that, and rather than losing 2K on the residuals, it will only cost you 2K in the first place :-) (Thinking ahead to when the pitter patter of tiny Gordon feet come along ;-)).

Cheers,
Robin

Devil head says Lambo.

Clever head says GT3. *

* Some say earlier ones are better so invest the change somewhere safe until time for the next move ;-)

You must watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRvcobW-LN4

Now, if you don't want to buy a GT3RS after watching that then you should be shot :D
