Project Make It GREEN! Big thanks to...

Post by Corranga » Sun Mar 07, 2010 12:05 pm

Picked the car up from Defendall yesterday, so figured I should post thanks to all the companies that have helped me, and a small list of what they did for me for future reference.

Bodywork
Firstly, I have to say a HUGE thanks to Tayside Autos in Perrie St Dundee. Charie is a great guy with loads of stories and a passion for his work. They let me work on the car in there, everything from stripping it down to replacing my seals, and even fitting bits I had laying around in a large warm workshop, with the odd tool borrowing or advice questions along their way. Their painter Paul helped me hugely with the project, and the other guys were always willing to lend a hand if we needed more hands (fitting the rear clam for example.
Most importantly, the paint job is second to none, and the car looks fantastic :)

Upholstery / retrim
Transcal in Livingston did a fantastic job on my seats. They look and feel great and are exactly as I wanted.

Parts
I used both Bell & Colvill and Kelvedon Lotus for ordering parts. Both were polite and spent the extra time looking out new part numbers for the old part numbers I supplied them with!

Powder Coating
Coatech in Carnoustie powder coated some st st grills for my car. Nice sort of satin black colour, looks great and not too expensive. Still not fitted them mind, just picked them up yesterday.

Paint Protection
Defendall in Perth did a great job on my car. I opted for a full kit due to paranoia. The kit looks great, obviously there are some visible lines, but i'd rather those than paint chips all over the car!
The parts covered are: Nose, mirrors, sills, front bonnet and a couple of small bits near the base of the rear clam.

Whilst in, I had a look around Alan's car too, the replacement sill section looks identical to mine, it's all good :)

Most importantly
I can't thank Erica enough for support and almost permanent loan of her VX

Still a couple of bits to do on the car - refit under trays, replace old rear grills, polish fuel cap

For now I can't stop checking it's still there, and still GREEN!

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I think it would look great with a S160 spoiler.

No Thanks Tut, Keep your Front End to yourself. Whats this about polish, you feeling ok ?

My car is getting the same front end protection as Corranga and curious to see where the protection stops. Just looked at the pics and there is a massive improvement to the one which was fitted to mine.

Moral of the Story - Make sure your Front End is fully protected, Otherwise you'll end up with a rash.
