Hi Guys

Looking to buy one of these monsters as the AMP3 wheels, since an over eager employee sold my Audi A6 Avant while i was on holiday, and the 430 has been pressed in to every day driving (not a hardship ).

Loving the fact, having just borrowed one, that it almost does the job of car, van, and towing beast in one.

Wondered if anyone had any advice on them, knew of anyone selling a good decent spec one etc etc.

Mate, as mentioned last night, also looking out for a decent Disco 3 HSE spec, keep your eyes on Birnam Autopoint http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/8455/stock.htm as they I think take a lot of Stratstone's stock, if it is too high miles etc. Expect to pay 25k still for a decent spec HSE on a 56 plate.

Land Rover are doing some decent finance deals on the new Disco 4, and it is lovely, with the benefit of the 3.0 diesel engine, rather than the 2.7d. The GS is the base model on the 4, where as the S is the base model on the 3.

I've got a D3 SE
It's only a 2.7 so takes a bit to get going.
Not the best on the go go juice. £82 to fill it...lasts about 400-450 miles.
It's been great though, especially in the snow.

I had the S Auto onm the 19" wheels. Great car, very smooth and very easy to drive. Wasn't too slow but they are heavy on juice (23mpg with my lead foot).

Watch out for Brakes, mine needed new discs and pads at 30k Miles which was about £1000... Also they seem to go through rear bulbs alot for some weird reason (not a show stopper though).

I got a 1 month ban in mine for doing 102.3 down the motorway, be careful as everything seems slow at that height..

I like the diesel - if you get one, avoid the manual - it makes life hard as the powerband's pretty narrow. the auto slushes everything together really nicely and is very smooth in both auto and 'manual' mode.

totally - has to be an auto - i've no interest in a manual.

Amusingly enough new considering a RR Vogue 3.0td - anyone got any thoughts on how the 2 compare?

We are now having an awesome comp to find the best new company car (has to be practical , diseasal, huge, capable of big miles, a tower (speed not that important as it dont want to lose my license) - much better way to spend the afternoon, compared to working

D3 is massive!
Mine's a manual...def. get a auto.

You'd get quite a few MP3 players in there for a car boot sale...

The 2.7 is not really powerfully enough IMO for the weight of the Disco3.

Off topic; i see the new engine for the 335 135 etc petrol's are going to be single turbo. Wonder if its going t be the same with the diesels

I would buy a diesel G wagen if I wanted a big, comfy do-it all.

Mike, not surprising given the new M3 is a twin turbo petrol - at least with current 35i vs M3 whilst there was not any real performance difference the M3 sounded better. It just looks like they have had to tweak it so there is a noticeable difference between top-line 3er and the M3. Not read about the diesels.

Andy - get an old X5 - afaik they've got no reliability issues and are available for buttons thesedays

Well the bugs have been ironed out of the D3 as it is now the D4 which is the current new model

As to a RR i would say no if it is going to be sticked up as a company vehicle as the RR has a bit of a nobby image

if big miles weren't a thing i'd say buy a defender but then again you do sell noise cancelling headphones and the new one is a bit more civilised then mine

And if you do get a 4x4 come along to a trial and you will be staggered at what a disco can do (once you have knocked the plastic bits off)

Would highly recomend the RR Vogue (or Vogue SE). Bought one last year and have never regretted it. The missus loves it and with this winter its been brilliant. Most comfortable driving seat I have ever been in (including a roller). Only problem I can forsee is what do I replace it with in a few years.

For what you're after I think it would tick all the boxes.
