Cash in hand, looking to buy...

My sister is after a new car - She started asking for advice last July, when an Audi TT was top of her notional list... :?

However since she got married in August, she's moved onto thinking about more practical modes of transport - She's got her heart set on an E90 BMW 320D Touring, with the M Sport kit...Budget of £12k ish, for a 2005 or newer - No more than 60k on the clock.

Just missed out on a nice '56' plater in Manchester, in black with black leather and 46k on the clock, which didn't hang around at that sort of money (!)

If anyone knows of anything for sale that fits the bill above, please give me a shout - She's also open to considering an Audi A4 Avant S-Line 2.0 TDi, of similar age / mileage / options...

:cheers

Ross.

edit: Needs to be a manual - She hates autos!

Did spot that too - Reckon it's about £1k overpriced, based on the lack of options...A great deal of 320D's are ex-company cars, where the 'M Sport' spec box has been ticked, and nothing else...

Think she's going to get her hubby to scout around British Car Auctions...He's a mechanic, who works for a salvage company, so has some decent contacts - As is typical, she carefully deliberates on what to get for 6 months, and as soon as she has the money in her bank account, it's like a mad rush to spend it on something!!

Very smart :)

Hell of a difference in mpg compared to the original E90 BMW 320D! Prob twice as thirsty  S'funny how we always set out with a 'must have' list and ignore it when we see a car we like. I know I'm guilty of that! :D

I test drove one about this time last year but it was on at around £16,990 (main dealer) Have they dropped that much to £12K?

Heh - They had a serious think, and elected to also keep the Mk4 GT TDi they currently have...My sister has an 80 mile daily commute, so she'll continue to use the TDi, and my brother in law will get the R32... 8)

Yes; they got this one within their £12k ish budget - 2 owner / 47k on the clock...It's also (just) pre-March 06, so road tax is £215 as opposed to the £405 of the post-March 06 cars... :blackeye

There's a £12.5k Mk5 R32 near Glasgow on Autotrader, but my brother in law went to see it, and it was rough rough...(6 owners / no service history / tatty bodywork) - They've had to go to Southampton for this one...

Weren't they being sold new at a mega discount (18k rings a bell?) by some dealers due to the crazy tax cost / not being much quicker than the GTi but having crazy low mpg in comparison?

Maybe that was the end of the previous mk?

Still, great looking cars and i'd love to have a go!
