Wanted : Knackered front wheel for an S2
Wanted : Knackered front wheel for an S2
I cannot figure out how to securely and easily lift just the front wheels of my car together . So if anybody has a completely knackered , buckled / accident damaged with or without tyre front wheel they would flog let me know ( must be cheap) . Means I can just chuck it on and get tyres done in a pair.

I was of the understanding the B jack point had to be used with a four point lift ??????? I know I am being paranoid but I dont want to buckle my car.offshorematt wrote:I've an S1 and when I jack the car up on the corner of the chassis tub slightly rear of the front axle line (maybe not quite the right description but its approved in the Lotus service notes...), both fronts come up with one of the rears. Pop the axle stands in and jobs a good'un...

Oops. I wondered why one wheel no longer touched the ground when the car is on a flat surface...
Seriously though, I don't know if what you say is right or wrong but I've done it a hundred times without a problem. That doesn't make it right of course... although I can't imagine that the corner of the box section is so weak that it would buckle under partial weight of the car.
Has anyone heard any horror stories?

They do say that IIRC, but like Matt, I've done this several times with no ill effects. It's probably more about not having muppets dropping the car's fibreglass sill onto the jack when you lower it.tenkfeet wrote:I was of the understanding the B jack point had to be used with a four point lift ???????
