Oh no, I've actually gone and done it

Sold my Exige at the weekend to a buyer from Germany - he is coming back in 3 weeks to collect it. A real wrench as I have had the car from new and even went to Hethel to see it being built. For once a car buying/selling decision made with my head rather than my heart. I absolutely love the car, in fact it is far and away the best car I have ever owned, but too much time spent skydiving means I haven't really used it much in the last 18 months, and looking at Exige prices I decided that it was a good time to sell. Normally aspirated used Exiges seem to me to be rather over valued just now. How can it be that a 2005 NA Exige sells for over 19K, when a mint 2007 Exige S can be bought for just 5K more? So, put it on Pistonheads a while back and surprisingly nearly all the genuine enquiries were from France and Germany. Weak Sterling is good for someone!
An additional factor in the decision to sell was the Yota engine - over 4 years of ownership, I did become a bit frustrated with the peakiness of the normally aspirated lump. Fine on track, and the Lotus Sport ECU remap helped, but ultimately I found the lack of mid range torque a bit wearing for road use. The grip and handling of the Exige still amaze me though, and as a covetable mini-supercar the Exige has no real rivals in my book.
This will be the first time I have been Lotusless in over 7 years and it doesn't feel right

Definitely will be getting back into Lotus ownership sometime in the not too distant future, possibly with an Exige PP next spring, although I am quite tempted by the idea of a used Evora when they have done a chunk of depreciating. Hmmmmm....
