Broken laptop help...power socket.

Anyone able to fix a laptop? The pin in the power socket has sheared
off.
I've been quoted silly money for an 'offical' repair which would mean
a new motherboard. Not too worried about the cosmetics of it, just
want it to work. It's a few years old now but pretty high spec (3GHz
etc) so I'm loath to just bin it.
