Jaysus, what a weekend!

Post by Shug » Mon May 15, 2006 10:14 am

That was a hectic one - I'm sitting here trying to stay awake!

Friday was the Dukes Pass BBQ - good fun and good to see folks. Had a wee drama on the way home... Was shattered and Elaine was quite happy driving home (was her first time drving the car on the road) In hindsight, probably not the nicest time to drive it, as it had given me a worry on the Pass (a nasty buzz, which turned out to be the ally tat spark plug cover on the new engine working loose!) So she was a little wary....

Anyway driving home, we got onto the M77 and she was getting quite confident and relaxed (I was asleep ;) ) and it starts losing power! Coasts into the hard shoulder and I hop out, she's out in a flash (imagining the engine grenading or something). I get it and churn it over, only to find that my fuel gauge has turned all optimistic since we changed the engine  Quick phone call to Dom and (decent geezer that he is) he's out inside half an hour with a stash of fuel.... Not the best start to the weekend!

Saturday was a busy one, as I was at a client's first (carluke) then off to Livi to have a butchers at Kill_Zippy's car (very tidy it is too!) the off to Stu's to pick up a wideband lambda kit, then back to Ayr to get Elaine after work and then we get a call from AndyG.

So, out to Edinburgh for a wee drinkie with him and Ed (which turned into a 4am sesh...) We would have got a taxi too, if it wasn't for our resident mr smooth being distracted by a herd of Wildebeest as we were leaving to beat the taxi queue... As it was, 5 mile hike before we blagged one... And Andy didn't even get to play "hide the ferret!"

Sunday started on a bad note - as I'm not known for my extreme alcohol tolerance.... Rough as a badger's arse... Still, managed to drag my ass out of bed and get over to KH for the Motor Fair (thankfully, Elaine had her car) Sound of an F1 engine at 18,500rpm does wonders to clear the head!

Then, we popped over to Dom's later that evening for a Top Gear watching session.

All in all, quite busy and I'm shattered! So, anyone else have a good weeekend?

Yup, guilty on that one! We got dodged taxi wise, and had a close escape from the aforementioned wildebeast!

Too make matters worse I didn't remember to get the barmaids number either.........

You were in tatters on Sunday - how your head didn't fall off when they got the F1 car out I don't know mate  :D

Went to Fort William with Ed, and picked up Tom, then came back via Glasgow and Doms (Luddons) for a spot of BMW based lunacy!

Slept like a baby last night after BBC2 at 8! - but WTF was the second half of top gear about - a radio show - muppets! It wasn't even amusing, just dire. And it had started with so much promise.........

Yup, was a slightly weak episode, that one....

Sunday, you are right, I was not a happy bunny.... KH was perfect though, in that it wasn't too warm and sunny, but pleasant and there were lots of pretty cars to keep my mind off the threat of chunder!

Also, I now wish you'd kept at that lassie (!) you were talking to at the end - I'm sure her bus pass would have come in useful!

Atrocious display with the barmaid though....

I am surviving on coffee this morning.

Friday night was a charity do at work, which resulted in me being in by 11.30pm due to being soooo hammeurred - unheard of.

Saturday was a marathon shopping trip in Edinburgh. Dinner at Harvey Nics, then back to Vegas for a 10 year school reunion party.

Yesterday could have done with the car to go up to KH or just for a run. But ended up doing not-a-lot except getting a Chinese for the parents and me granny.

Busy week this one, as the car is going to be here there and everywhere, doing a hangover cure trial on wednesday night (cue exploding heads and foaming at mouth no doubt) then Thurs is Big Brother party for the first night! Then Friday morning off to Palma for the weekend!

Tired too!

Friday night up late playing game with m8s online.
Up early saturday (with friday nights tea NOT agreeing with me) and headed to MMC. Turns out I was a month early! (not really, they just got the booking wrong).
Got new indicator and gear leaver fitted (I have a new hole to play with).
Drove home the long way via fife.
Party at gf's parents house!
up early and then away for long long long walk on the beach!
Then gate crashed (well, walked around the barriers) of the Radio 1 big weekend in dundee.
Yawn, didnt make it to the gym today!!!

I'm in bits. Stag weekend with a bunch of army officers. Lots of booze friday night. Canyoning on Saturday   Jumped off a 25 foot waterfall. hit the water and thought 'bloody hell, thats further than you think'. then it was time for the big one. 40 feet.  wasn't sure if i had the rocks for it. then thought 'fuc*k it. I'm not going to die(hopefully) so whats the worst that can happen'. jumped it and i'm still here. 40 feet is a LONG way, especially when youre jumping into a freezing river surrounded by sharp pointy rocks. friday nights hangover was history after that tho :D .
sat night kayaked over to a bothy accompanied by 80 cans of lager and 2+1/2 bottles of whisky and some firewood. sunday morning, wake up freezing and broken.
meet up with ed and andy at about 3pm. feel good enough to drive exige back from Fort Bill  felt crappy for the rest of the day. sleep. now at desk feeling knackered  .

Top weekend.!!

(Glad Ed's got pagids on the exige faction  )

Let me know how that one works! :thumbsup
Yeah, I'm very curious. Apparently it's been trialled on humans in America so it's safe healthwise, and one of the guys organising it has already tried it this weekend outwith the official trial and he says it worked.

Shall see!

Boy's a loonbag, that's for sure. I've been out as a rear seat pax in that Healey - which is much like going out as a rear seat pax in an Elise.... You sit so high that you are a good foot above the windscreen.

Not that the windscreen is much use anyway, as most of the time it was 45 degrees on to the direction of travel....

Dom was saying that some people were having an issue keeping up with the Astra at Dukes Pass?
