Rubens at KH this weekend?

Post by Sassy » Thu May 11, 2006 4:06 pm

My boss has just told me Mr Barrachocolate will be at KH this weekend attempting to break the track record (in an F1 car, like that will be difficult. Not been many GPs at KH as far as I know...).

True? False? Care?

Yeah said there'll be the FXX up there too - is this a Glenvarigill day?

I will see how I feel on Sunday, might go up if nothing else is doing. and it's nice weather.

It's the Scottish Motor Fair. F1 car on Saturday, FXX on track Sunday. Thx to g/f work commitments, we'll be there on Sunday (although that looks like the best bet anyway, as Sat's weather forecast is truly horrendous)

Couple of other SE'ers there on Sunday too, methinks.

And didn't Glenvarigill shut down all the premium stuff?

Hmm, dunno about Glenvarigill, just know they have/had a connection with KH in the past, put 2 + 2 together with 'Rari but... Is it GreyPaul now or something?

Anyhoo. I might pop up but if it's as gash as the Scottish Motor Show I'll be raging!

Wonder if Jay Kay will pop by with his Enzo... :love

I was at the KH 25th anniversary day (must've been oh, about 10 years ago - willing to be proved wrong... :? ) and there was an old ATS F1 car battering round the track, it broke the then record IIRC, but my biggest memories of it wer leaking fluid all over the place & making a fooking ear-splitting noise whilst blootering up the straight...

My bro used to have the track record round KH in a Formula Ford. Briefly.

FACT.

And unless Barrichello has decided the Spanish Grand Prix hold less value to him than a few laps of KH, I doubt you'll see him there ;)

They tried to break the lap record a few years ago with an old Footworks F1 car but the modern cars just aren't suited to KH. They're really only getting into it over 60mph and there's no straight long enough to get decent speed on so it didn't do it.

I believe Glenvargill got bought over and ditched a lot of the non/low-profit stuff like Ferrari/TVR.

Not as easy as you may think - Takuma's Dallar ws very quick = more like RB will set a new time because of th enew layout.

Fastest cars around KH are the sprint club cars but their times are for 1.5 laps. fastest ones are running 600/700bhp and 400-500 kilos..

However sounds as if RB's car did it:
http://www.scottishcarclub.com/phpbb/vi ... =9593#9593

"At the motor fair today the Scuderia Ecosse team had Ruben Barrichello's 2003 F1 Car doing some laps driven by Nathan Kinch.

What an awesome sight even though knockhill is short, tight and twisty he managed to go round in 43.14 averaging 108 mph with a top speed on the main straight in the 180's. Although unofficial that time will take some beating for a while to come"
