Apparently his friend was driving who was only covered to drive other cars third party.

Apprently everything is straight, so it would just be clams and other panels and windscreen?

If everything is straight then it would probably be relatively simple for someone with any technical ability, but it does raise the question - would you even if you could?!!!!

I am on the No camp here, would just be worried something was going to let go, like that tainted feeling when you know something is not right, even if it is just that your new pride and joy has a tiny scratch, it never feels the same.

there's a thread on it on SEL()ck - Junks reckoned 8k-ish for a full fix minimum, unless you've got the parts lying about!

My personal favourite picture :-(

I feel for the guy, but given that the car is only going to be worth mid-20s if it were mint and that a complete set of body panels and the replacement windscreen+frame (which on the S1 at least comes bonded to the chassis from new, BTW), it's a hell of a lot of work for a privateer - he could probably sell it through the salvage trade where someone will give him say 8K for it I think - broken into parts sooner or later you will shift the chassis, seats, suspension and drivetrain, plus loads of minor bits like fasteners, headlights, etc.. eventually - and you would make money on it too.

In the trade, you could probably put it back on the road for say 10K, but as a trade sale you would be obliged to tell the buyer about the history and I think that it's very hard to sell a 20K+ car with such a history, especially when there are plenty of non-crash-test-dummies to choose from ...

No harm in trying to punt on fleabay first, of course. I wish him luck, 'cos it's a very sad Exige right now ... makes you wonder why he and his mate didn't swap seats soon after, doesn't it ...

Cheers,
Roin

I said exactly the same about seat swapping on exiges.com and was :flame

It just seems a bit fishy.

Someone raised a point about if the engine has been turned over since it happened, things like that would always be in your head. wouldnt be my 10k that would be buying it in its current state.....
