Libellous Courier!!

Can anyone remember what happened with the guy from Aberdeen with the Noble that was crashed into and them blamed wrongly in the newspapers ?
The reason I ask is that a guy who crashed in front of me last year was in court yesterday and was banned/fined but not before trying to blame me for his crash. I was supposed to be a witness against him but the date was changed and I wasn't informed. The Courier have printed a headline about a 'racing incident' leading to a crash based on his invented story for the court, and mentioning a Lotus.
Any advice appreciated!
Cheers

if he's been banned and fined and the police have not turned up on your door, then it looks to me like the court didn't believe him. i'd just leave it mate tbh

unless you know where he lives then i'd suggest pouring nitromors over his car - but then i'm nice like that, lol

That is bloody annoying! A letter to the Courier wouldn't do any harm, they have to put something between the adverts and TV section!

The problem with proving libel is it's very expensive :?

I'm not that bothered about the newspaper because I suppose they have only reported the nonsense that he said. He plead guilty and was banned/fined for dangerous/drunk driving. I was more concerned someone would believe him and I'd end up being charged/banned for nothing. The crash was over 6 months ago though so apparently I should have already been charged if they were going to.

It's not known as The Dundee Liar in these parts for nothing.

I'd get someone on here (GregR?) to help you word a letter to the editor demanding a retraction and that it is printed somewhere noticeable an not in the arse end of the classifieds.

Exactly Lee, the Police would of been on ur door step in a second if they had thought you'd done anything wrong. The fact you'd volunteered to be a witness is maybe something over looked by the Courier!? Are they implying that if you happen to drive a sports car you shouldn't volunteer yourself as a witness these days, for fear of being implicated!!?

Too right! From the Thomsons point of view, their publishing arm is 'only a hobby' aledgedly! I imagine they will listen very carefully (as they should) to any complaints made in writing, and take the appropriate actions!

I ts a local yapping gazette so these thing happen from time to time its unfortunate that a lotus is involved. But bearing in mind the runs that we have and will have over the summer without incident the odd Lotus is bound to get sucked into the fry from time to time. case off wrong place wrong time :?
