If you had to choose between a 57 111r or a 58 111s what would you go for

The elise model code is 11. As in Lotus I, II, III, IV....7..49....72...111 etc... The 58 111s is something of a misnomer. It's really an S model; the least powerful/cheapest in the range. It has the 135bhp toyota engine and 5 speed box. Lotus did call a model of the elise the 111s; but this has a Rover engine and was discontinued a few years ago. The 111R is now Known as just the R in the range as far as I know. It has 190 bhp, a 6 speed box and a different design of wheel compared to the S. I'm not sure thare are any other real differences?MonTheFish wrote:If you had to choose between a 57 111r or a 58 111s what would you go for
does that mean the R has the same engine and bhp as a standard exige thenwoody wrote:The elise model code is 11. As in Lotus I, II, III, IV....7..49....72...111 etc... Out of those two, I'd have the R, but I'd rather an Exige & soft top over either. If both are the same price, the R will have one more of it's depreciation. You'd have to imagine the R would always command a premium over an S of the same age/spec/miles.
