Depends on if it's an S1 or an S2 and then that can be sub dived into a long tail (early S2) or a short tail (current) S2

Agreed. S1 roof can be a pain, and take 2 or 3 minutes. S2 short roof is a piece of piss and is 30 seconds max. You can also take it off (and put it on with a bit of practise) from the cabin.

the soft top on my S1 is stored in the cabin behind the seats.

If I know that I am going to need a roof in advance I will often put on the hard top as this can be done quicker. Downside is that you can't store it if the weather improves.

Then he's never tryed fitting a roof to a caterham that has a rollcage

take about half an hour and you need strong fingers, a pair of plier oh and a hot air gun to stretch the fabric

But as a none elise owner the S2 short roof looks a complete and utter piece of piss

Wait we're all missing a point here, why would you have the roof on in the first place?
