Had a rant at MMC

Today the Exige was back in at MMC for some warranty work. So took the opportunity to have a rant!
I have various Loti serviced there and every time I have to wait to get the bill and more times than not the car is not clean add this to the price they charge =
So I had a chat with the service manager and said something like
was in last week for the A service had to wait 40 min for the bill to be printed
The bill is on the large side
AND the car looks like it had been watered not cleaned
Sorry but if Renault can manage to clean a car so can MMC!
What do you know? came to pick the car up the bill was printed, had to pay no cash and the car was proper clean inside and out!
AND they have finally source the cause of the resonance ( I have been bitching about it for a year!) turns out its a failed weld on the heat shield on the U bend just before the back box
This could be a happy ending and MMC in the same sentence!

I would rather they didn't clean my car as I'm sure it won't be done to my standard. Dirty sponges and crap cleaners. (not at pop at MMC, just a general comment for anyone who would clean my car)

I have had some recent 'issues' with MMC in relation to Servicing, Parts, Communications and common courtesy. Took my FrUsTaTiOn out a couple of weeks ago by having a full-on shouting session with Graham from sales on the phone (Good on him.. think he had a bad day cause he was shouting at me more than I was shouting at him!!) None of my issues related to him and he couldnt have been any more helpful and obviously we kissed and made up in the end but the initial problems still leaves a bad taste.
The cars are great and I have loads of time for the folk selling them (Graham gave Wendy and I the keys to his Exige Demonstrator one day when we were just in for a nosey and said to take it away for an hour or so and enjoy it. That was cool and *will* make me want to go back to get a car from there again.) But most other things, for me at least, seem to have some element of "could do better" about them. Maybe if Falkland Performance Centre get their 'Official' status then that will raise the bar a bit.

graham is an excellent salesman. and whilst pauline was there, there was decent backup in the servicing department. Now she's gone, i'm afraid MMC need to up there game, or else graham is going to struggle to keep selling us cars.

I can't fault Graham at MMC. Bought our first elise S2 from him in 2001, and just bought our 2nd elise S1 from him at the beginning of March. haven't had any major hassles with them and they always wash and clean our cars perfectly

i agree mandy, no complaints with graeme, but now he doesnt have pauline there, and since they let there other service guy go(the one with the civic typeR) theres been alot more annoyed reports. more than just the usual, expensive bill stories.

Think I saw the MMC Exige S (light metallic blue ?) battering it down the A1 between Dunbar and Haddington. No speed cameras funnily enough.

Gareth,
re MMC valets...the guys are actually brilliant, I rarely get my car serviced there now due to cost and lack of frequency, but it used to be in there a lot and never once came back in anything other than showroom condition (unless I asked for it back early if in a hurry).
Remember, they do Astons, Rollers etc too...generally the very same guys.
Give them a try.

Have to say I've not been impressed with MMC's service in Glasgow.
A slightly sneery attitude from the service manager (a sort of 'you're a girl, how would you know the wheels need balancing?' when it turns out all four of them DID need balancing, which he initially said he would charge me for - on a two week old car, which MMC had changed the wheels on in the first place?).
Also having trouble with the lock barrels first on the passenger door (which they said they'd fixed and is now playing up again) and now driver's door is doing the same. Which means putting the car back in again. Which is a hassle.
The car wasn't cleaned either.
But, there's not much option but to go with them, really.
Can't fault Graeme tho, he was fab.

Sassy,
You should search the archives about MMC Glasgow.
Both Shug and I posted up fake "evening times" reports about there being a fire......
Oh how we laughed.

Sassy. don't the 06 cars all have central locking? Are the barrels just broken from opening and closing the door?

No it's when you have to push the button to open the door they're sticking in so that you can't then close the door from the inside unless you stick the key in the barrel and pull it back out.
They oiled the passenger door one, but it's playing up again and now the drivers door is doing it too.

Sassy i had the same problem with my 06 elise - the passenger lock was sticking like yours so i popped past and they oiled it up a bit and it seemed to be fine. But 2 days later it was back to its old tricks.
luckily it was due its 750 mile service the week after so it was back in anway and they said they totally stripped it down and serviced it and its working fine now.
Wasnt too happy with their customer care though I have to say - took 3 phone calls from me to chase them to let me know the car was ready

also it hadnt been washed either and covered in bird sh1t
