Hi All

I have a friend who has some badly scratched alloys on her car. Looking for recommendations for wheel refurbishment and/or powder coating in Glasgow, ideally the west end if possible.

Can anyone recommend?

A lot of folk have had good experiences of Powdertec near the Kingston Bridge. They recently refurbed one of my wheels; good service, good price but not the best job; it has been suggested that they have only painted the wheel instead of powder coating it. ..I don't want to give them bad press till I know for sure; what I do know is that the wheel is now a different colour to the others

In some cases certain types of alloy need to be painted rather than powder coated (something to do with higher baking temps for powder causing problems on certain alloy types, I'm told).

My 12-spoke Elise rims were like that. Look absolutely great though and several years usage with no probs (albeit they are my summer / track rims).

And our Golf Anniversary rims were also re-done that way.

Ah.. makes some sence, although does not explain that when VW refurbed one of the wheels before I bought the car, they managed a perfect match..... unless they just got another wheel

ah, the matching is another matter!

if I'd had only one of either set of wheels done, I know for sure they wouldn't match the others
