160/sport 160?

Post by woody » Sun Mar 26, 2006 7:01 pm

I had a conversation with Graeme at MMC yesterday during which he said he remembered my car when he sold it 5 years ago, and that as it only has '160' rather than 'sport 160' on the side it doesn't have the sports suspension that was an option when my car was new. I'm not so sure. It's certainly stiffer and lower than any other Elise I’ve driven, and feels more alive. Not had the wheels off it yet, but what should I be looking for to determine whether it has LSS or not?

The best pic’ I have to show ride height

Is the suspension the only difference between it being a sport or not?

I would have thought any S1 that was past 40kmiles would have its suspension refreshed / changed or upgraded at some point, as if it doesnt have LSS then what did it leave the factory with, Konis? They would have been changed by 43k, no?

If it drives well, then I wouldnt worry about it. 8)

Seats as well - mine has 111s seats.

I'll need to have a closer look through the receipts to see exactly whats been done - but to my mind it drives fine 8)

just the seeds of doubt being planted and all that.....

LSS is yellow dampers, with a thread on the outside ,(adjustable platform)
Will also have drilled discs, although they may have been replaced.
Seats should be alcantara, blue or red(never seen any other colours, whith a deep groove running down the spine, also, the anti roll bar will have 4 holes in it at the drop link(adjustable)

Ally plenuim as well
Anything else?

Aye, its a 160 then, specced with 111s seats, sports suspension and the cobra cat1. It has drilled discs on the rear, but the fronts are green stuff 'dotted' discs. I'm not too keen on fully drilled discs anyway, having seen a used set crack tested at work
