Project Mentalist takes shape...

Well, I'm picking up my new engine on Saturday <BG>

The old shed used another litre on the Rannoch run, so there's no doubt it's goosed. Phuck knows where it's going though, as it's not blowing smoke and it still pulls acceptably... Oh well, I'll probably pull the old engine apart to find out (and sell some useable bits)

I dare say that means the fitting process will commence on Sunday then... I'll not be doing much more than getting the clam off and hopefully getting the engine drained and clear to remove, as Elaine has a concert that night and my life will be effectively over if I turn up late/oily!

I've also got an Emerald to send away to be reflashed and a wiring loom to reconstruct. Will find my digi camera to start the photos as soon as I get going.

....oooh, I'm all excited 8) 8)

I know where its going (or went!)....all over my car and the roads of the surrounding area :!: The oil that was burnt Tom and i ingested.......might have contributed to his bladder issues :?:

Still made for some entertaining corners!

Good luck with the re-build bud. I think the old engine got a good send off int he last few months :D

Have fun Shug, taking the clam off is not to bad,the 6 bolts in the boot are a bit of a pig,had to grind 2 of mine off.
What are you doing with the head, cams?

You could remove and refit in a day ,easy, then another day to replace the clam, depending on what else you need to do.

Got more to do to it while the clam is off. Going to give it a good clean out, plus the engine I've got needs the starter and alternator off of mine. Also plumbing in the PRRT stat with my water/oil cooler. Nothing major, but it all ads up.

TBH mate, I'm not sure what to do with the head - it seems like such a shame just to flog it off after all the grief it gave us both! Still, I do need to pay for the engine somehow and I'm sure what I get for the cams and head would go a long way towards it. Plus, obviously the VVC head is a far better place to start if I decide to go back the solid hairy cam route in the future...

Bottom end will probably be used as the eventual donor for a 1.9 monsta, but that'll be a couple of years off.

Might be in contact for a few cosmetic bits, by the way ;)
