MG Racing auction.
I'll be there hopefully on Friday afternoon as I'm going home that weekend. There is a whole load of stuff but there is a buyer who could buy the lot.
Anyone want an MG cap? (Or 50!)

What a waste of time. It's still going on and has been since 930 this morning. They are at lot 670 out of 910!
Everything is going for stupid money, ie 2 axle stands £45, a haydraulic jack (Halfords £25) £75.
What a farce. Like e-bay eveyone expects a bargin and buys anyway! Muppets!

Ported cylinder heads gone for £350 each and (IMHO!) the porting was dubious at best. looked like the ports had been opened a bit but the valve guides were untouched and the siamese port divider bit was ragged. The new castings went for ~£300!
Way too much for me. Ridiculous money being spent, most bits going for RRP or more!

Good. Well not good for you (obviously) because you are/were there but good for those of us who couldn't be arsed to go and spent all day fearing that they have missed out on the bargain of a lifetime.
I was convinced that 700bhp estate car would go for thr'pence ha'pny and I would miss it.
You are probably right to describe it as an Ebay mentality, loads of stuff on there goes for more than RRP. Did you see any of the cars go through? What were you there to buy? Have you, since sending that last post, succumbed to the group madness and just spent 15 thousand UKP on a Rover 200 you can't MOT?

(No where to keep another car. And don't really want one. But you know what I mean.)

I had given up by the time the cars went and went home, watched it online though. A selection of the car prices:
MG ZTT Estate, engineering car, reportedly undrivable due to the number of engine mods: £2400
LDV crew cab with the keys locked in it £2500
LDV Panel Van, no keys £1900
IVECO truck fitted for race support £1300 (If only I had a HGV licence!)
Lot 688 MGTF track car, 2 litre cossie + all the trimmings £16000
Lot 674 MG ZR race car, definate HGF, no water and huge oil leak from head: £5200
Lot 689 Group N rally MG ZR, all corroded under the bonnet and large scary oil leak from head £4600
Lot 699 Bonneville Land Speed Estate £27000
Lot 701 Bonneville 97 project EXF single seater MGF £12600
Link dropped out (Damn parents and their dial up!) before the SV-R's went.
I wanted the heads (Ported or otherwise) and the pistons and con rods. Pistons went for £540 (Not bad for 10) and con rods for £900 for 20. No bargins to be had anywhere even the misc lots went for huge money. The only bargins was the branded trash at the start.
The E-bay mentality went as far as people waiting for the last moment to bid, if you bit the auction continues you muppets! Dragged out the whole process for ages.
I'm going K16 head hunting at scrappys round here tomorrow.
