Am looking to buy an appartment just off Union Street in Golden Square. There is No allocated parking space with the property but the Estate Agent has said that the Council will supply a Parking Permit to allow on street parking in the area. Anyone got any idea how much this costs (she didnt) and any insider knowledge of parking issues in the town centre?

£40 a year and you'll be okay to park in most of the streets around abouts.
Also heard that there are no pay and display restrictions on that little square in the middle of Golden Square but that might just be BS...

Thanks for that. £40 seems real cheap for the year but I found the same thing (eventually) on their website. Happy Jim.

I used to live just on Margaret St, just off Union St. The permit was about £40 a year and let me park within a 2 block radius. Only problem was there weren't enough spots for all the residents' cars, especially on a Fri-Sat night. A real pain in the ass!
