The Nissan is a Navara.

Navara is new model, L200 (if its that shape hes after) is being replaced this month.

Mate has a Navara and a few of our tradesmen have L200 and nobody has had any problems with either. If it was solely for moving about guff I would either buy a van or a defender, as the defender would probably lose next to no money.

I should add, they are ditching a X3 to get a X5 and a pickup else just get a Rangey or Cayenne. Tought choice but I KNOW he will dump rubble in the Rangey/Cayenne so am insisting he gets a second hand pickup.

I use a Renault Trafic van day to day. Tell him to get a cheap van if he`s just going to dump stuff in it, cos I know for a fact he wont be able to get a lot of the stuff he`d need to if doing a flat refurb into an L200 or similar. `Mon the vans!

Another "up for the vans" 8)

My BIL is just away to take delivery of a Navara with leather, sat nav etc - bloody waste of time if you ask me... cos a big Tranny or the like will swallow much more that one of those jap lightweights

an L200 is truely truely horrible to drive. Even the hard top shogun sport isn't much cop.

Avoid like the plague. 8)
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

IMO, the new Nissan Navara is far better than the new L200 and the recent new Hi-Lux. In looks, equipment and performance.

If he is not looking at a new one though all the older model pick-ups were pretty similar, but the Nissan was the most powerfull/fastest, but least room in the back for passengers.

Also the Isuzu Rodeo is quite good and there will be some decent second hand deals about.....

How’s about an Ifor Williams box trailer and a tow bar, the big ones will take as much as a van and you can unhitch them. Loss at sale would be next to nothing.

Update from BIL and looksl ike he plans on some mway work from Bham - Gla, he has a point on top speed grunt.

Koz says:
I have been doing some serious research into this - and at this time looks like the Shogun Warrior will be a top contender (with power upgrade - takes it up from 113 to 138bhp) however, I have yet to see the fuel economy figures. Also, I am intrigued by the Nissan Navarra which is the most powerful of them all at 170bhp - but I dont know about the performance of this either.

Sanjoy 18 - 12 Calcutta Cup says:
did nto think poower was an issue hmmm

Koz says:
only an issue from the pint of view that the top speed of the standard Warrior is 97mph - this could be an issue on a long trip to Glasgow - I am hoping that the power upgrade version may give me some more speed

I vote for the Rangey/Cayenne and a trailer. :)
