Autocar have stated that Lotus is considering the 5.0 litre V8 from the previous M5.
Cracking engine - fingers crossed

Cracking apart from the oil bills....
It uses more than mine, supposedly!
That rumour has been kicking about for a bit - thought the latest one was that they were considering an in-house engine.

They've got a light V6 with 300bhp in some demo platform car at Geneva.
Esprit would need a v8 minimum though?

Twoo, twoo - can't remember where I heard it (may have been SELC*CK) but there are rumours that it'll be a stressed monocoque with a Lotus developed engine?
Now, that may just be utter tosh. I'd be happy with the M5 V8, Autocar started that rumour at least a year ago with their "exclusive" look at the design sketches and their photoshop of how they guessed it would look.
Either or, will be too rich for my blood!!

Bearing in mind the Ascari runs the old M5 V8 and is pretty handy with it...
Quite a lot of chat on the Lotus Esprit forum re this, unsurprisingly - a few of the guys there have been in to see the test cars...

As I understood it, the rumours were that it would be the current M5's V10, not the old V8. There's also rumours now and again on seloc that BMW are interested in buying Lotus though Proton keep denying it's for sale.
