Whats your daily drive?

Post by GregS » Sun Feb 26, 2006 1:16 pm

As the wee cars tucked up in the garage over the winter months, just wondering what others were driving at this time of the year.
Currently using A3 TDI as my daily drive which is great.
Can drive it like a loony as still get 45mpg?

Did have a seat ibiza 1.4 but after 100,000 miles of me thrashing it to death, its past its best.

So, just picked up an Audi A6 2.4 V6 on friday. Its also done 100,000 miles, but its had a far easier life, and you would never guess it done so many miles. Only problem is that it does 34 mpg on motorway if i behave, but only about 23 mpg if i do my usual 100mph plus cruising.

Saying that, i dont do as many 500 miles motorway journeys any more, and when i do, its usually in the elise on its way to trackdays, so i can live with the poor economy as its the comfiest, quitest barge i've ever driven. Perfect 2nd car to the elise as its the complete opposite of it.

Daily (Only!) drive is my Liz.

My S1 landy is at my parents in need of some serious TLC.

Hardcore.

Saying that it takes me 2 minutes to cycle to work, so I don't really count.

L200

Post by minkypotglory » Sun Feb 26, 2006 2:33 pm

My daily drive is L200 pickup which i got new 2 years and keeps going through engines  there fitting a 3rd engine shortly? at 36000 miles does 18 mile to gallon but is good of road which i need in my job it also allows me to have a bit of fun sticking the rearrrrrrrr out  but its the total opposite of the 160 elise it feels a bit odd sometimes going from safety of the pickup to watching lorry tyres coming at you :drive

Seems so. I did think about buying another car when I moved to Carnoustie as I used to walk from my flat to work. Getting the train works out a good bit cheaper though and unless the train's late, it's less hassle than sitting stuck in traffic, especially with all the roadworks in Dundee just now.

In fact, that leads me on to a rant. Why the hell does Dundee council insist on doing all roadworks at the same time!!?! Not content with destroying the roads round the Nethergate (meant to finish last October!) but the diversion onto Riverside via the Perth road has just been dug up too. Bloody incompetent a**eholes!

A Smart ForTwo, logo'd up with my company decals, but since it went to SmartsRus its now pumping out a whopping 85bhp!

Its worth the pennies just to see the dispair of the neds when they can't keep up with it :D :D :D :D

Only car is the Elise. Was worrying about the hard winter we were due, but it never turned up (so far), so not been an issue.
