e-mail server

Post by Rich H » Thu Feb 23, 2006 6:26 pm

Any of you IT types suggest a decent e-mail service? (Not hotmail!) My ancient e-mail address seems to have died a death. I phoned up about it and they didn't even know that the server I was using was still running.....

It might come back up, it always has in the past, but they have recently upgraded their computer-wizardry-stuff and killed off my account for now. If I was paying for it I would be upset, but I have had 9 years of free e-mail and until 3 years ago call cost only dial up.... students eh?

It's just google's rubbish way of making people feel special by giving them invites. Everyone gets 50 or so invites to hand out when you sign up. Saying that, gmail is good because you can set it up in Outlook as a normal pop mailbox so you don't need to use the website to check mail.

I shouldn't be let near any settings ever.

Mechanical things are easy, I get bits left over, and take the thing back to bits and then find they are from another project. I can deal with that.

Computers: just say No.

Cheers guys

Leave your old email account as a pop account on outlook then add gmail and make it your primary. as you move ISPs you will be allowed to receive from your old accounts only but can send an receive with gmail. You can even add hotmail to your send an recieve accounts ...
