NLC - Enron trio lose extradition fight...

Post by Zippy » Tue Feb 21, 2006 1:05 pm

My mates cousin is one of the trio. Bad, bad news.

The three UK citizens are accused of committing the crime of Fraud in the UK against a UK organisation - NatWest.

NatWest's legal representation has reviewed the case and have publicly stated that in its opinion no fraud has been committed.

The Criminal Prosecution Service in the UK has reviewed the case and have publicly stated that in its opinion no fraud has been committed.

The three are being extradited to the US under the 'Anti-Terrorism' Extradition agreement established between the UK and the US following the terrorist acts of September 11th 2001. This allows the US government to file for extradition of UK citizens for trial in the US without any evidence that a crime has been committed. No such reciprocal agreement exists and the reverse cannot happen to US citizens.

Bottom line if you're involved in any form of business with a connection to the US then the US government can haul you over there to try you whatever its reasoning.

Scary!
