Donington 29th April

Post by jamie » Tue Feb 14, 2006 8:22 am

Exige.com have Donington sorted this year and would like to get as many Loti down there. There is already a load of use Exigers going down. All Loti are invited! So here is whats planned.

Tracksport have booked the fabulous Donington circuit on Saturday 29th April for our annual trackday/laffathon

It will be "open pitlane", with a max of 70 cars. Given the fantastic response to last year's event at Croft, I don't see why we can't get a minimum of 50 Exiges there, but hopefully more!!!

As you will no doubt be aware, the cost of hiring any of the UK circuits has risen quite considerably over the past couple of years, plus Saturdays command a premium price. However, Tracksport are offering us the day for £250, provided that a £100 booking deposit is paid absolutely no later than 27th January. On this basis, they are not advertising the day on their website, so hopefully no Exige owners will be dissappointed by not securing a place by the 27th January. After that date, the day will go on "open sale".

Please book as soon as possible, with the £100 deposit, by phoning Tracksport on 01270 666500, & ask for Craig, Joanne or Tracy.

Lotus Support
I am pleased to say that Lotus intend supporting our trackday with 2 cars & drivers - one of which will be Gav Kershaw

Depending upon the level of bookings for the trackday, it's not possible at this stage to determine how we will utilise Gav & Team. My preference would be to have say 3 laps out with the Lotus Drivers in their cars, rather than us driving, as we all know what it's like to drive an Exige/Elise, but very few of us have enjoyed a trip out on a circuit being driven by someone who does it for a living!

Note: Priority for Hot Laps etc, will be for those who have booked to drive on the trackday, over those passengering or spectating.

Mobile Rolling Road
The very same mobile road as recently featured on "Top Gear" (3 knackered Italian Supercars episode), will be at our trackday. Power runs will be at the discounted price of £25 (normally £30).

Hotel
Further to earlier rumours it is confirmed that we have arranged a hotel deal at the Thistle East Midland Airport. This is about one minute (by Exige! - three in lesser cars! ) from the circuit and is a typical 4-star chain hotel. See HERE The deal is £55 per room per night B&B for one or two people in a twin or double bedroom, i.e. £27.50 a head B&B if you share a room or £55 a head B&B if you are shy or without loved ones. To book a room all you need to do is phone the hotel on 0870 333 9132 ( I've checked it, it works!) and quote "exiges.com" to claim the special rate which is available for FRIDAY and SATURDAY only. If you are sharing it would be worth having both names available when you book to avoid check-in problems. There may be a car parking charge (£5 per stay) but we'll try to get this dropped.

Dinner @ teh GP collection
Further to earlier rumours it is confirmed that we have arranged an exclusive evening visit and supper to the world famous Donington Grand Prix Collection (see HERE) for our track day on Saturday 29th April 2006. For just £20 the Collection will be opened to http://www.exiges.com participants from 6.15 p.m. until 9.15 p.m.and we will also be served a buffet supper from 8.00 p.m. in the Café Grand Prix from a choice of three menus.

£250 seems pretty steep for a track day. Is that normal prices down south?

It is expensive, not just compared to KH but also Englandshire prices I'm used to from Lotus on Track or even Spa at £300 for 2 full days...

I'm still going though 'cos it's the one off Exiges day. The extra £100 over what I'd consider a reasonable price is small when you consider fuel, tyres, Hotel for a couple of nights, food, beers etc.

Cheers,
Ali
