Why you shouldnt put your car off the road over winter

Was working through in Edinburgh today, and after a slog home in the van it was 1degree when I arrived at 930. The roads were dry and I decided to go for a backroad hoon.
Clear skies, windows down, dry roads - absolute joy
Pops and bangs, then a flash in my drivers mirror as the flames lit up the road behind me and then off into the next corner. Bit of salt on the backroads but not slippy if smooth and it was brilliant fun

.
I dont know why you`d garage a car over winter, that was an awesome hour, still doesnt make up for the past week of wet roads though

Wet roads, salt, risk of offs, ice, snow, hard on the car battery, slower to demist than your average AC-equipped car, etc.
That said, doubt I'll every SORN the car through the winter, I agree, too much to be gained from that occasional crisp winter's day / evening blast
Well done you.

I experienced it on Thursday night - wasn't fluffy play snow though so not much fun.... car is now in hibernation, I agree with the odd crisp day but will be like driving the car for the first time again in spring - the elise novelty has worn off a bit recently commuting in the wind, rain & snow (even with the hardtop on)

I've not done a full winter yet... only bought her mid-January but she got used from day 1. So, I'm only about 8 weeks away from having used her all year round. To be honest, I think the worst weather is coming later & later each year... good snow seems to hold off until Feb or sometimes March recently... and April showers seem to be May...

Never put a car away over winter - remeber have a late Dec blat over Glenshee & Braemar a couple of years back - freezed my bollocks off, possibly the only time I've ever felt that a heater would be nice in the Snot
