Quick teaser - just to get a feel for people's tastes. Okay - so as a young petrolhead, you got car calendars for your bedroom wall. Everybody did :)

Were they road cars or race cars?

I always had road, 'cos they were a present from me mammy. I'd have preferred race, of course....

I wasn't a young petrolhead :(
Didn't get into cars until I starting thinking about learning to drive then they took over my life :P
So now I have a car calendar in my kitchen and it's road cars. Next month is an Esprit IIRC.

See, now I grew up in Garages (father was a mechanic) so I suppose some of the oil and petrol had to percolate through my veins!

think i had spiderman stuff up :P

actually - i was into aircraft in a big way.
really wanted to join the RAF - until I realised i didnt want to be told what to do.

Always liked watching F1, Touring and Rallying on tv when I was wee.
Went to knockhill every year to watch Touring cars.

Suppose I did like cars - drove my dads car (well, steered it) when i was about 7. had wee toys, of course.

Cant say ive had a Car calendar tho.

Road cars.

But I made dozens of model kits, and that was a mixture of road and race/rally cars :thumbsup

I can't remember calendars, but I did have Lotus Type 49, and later Type 72 posters and models.

As a lad in the mid 70's I went through a period of reading Hot Car mag so my walls were covered with various custom cars. Thankfully I grew out of it !. Tons of model kits were built during summer holidays then when my old mechanic dad's Mini broke its back I started working on it, the rest is history !.

I wasn't really into cars as a kid either. The only cars I remember having posters of was a framed red Lotus Esprit and a white Countach ... so I suppose that means road cars :)

A whole bunch of various fads when I was a kid, went from mad magazine to custom trucking magazines, then dirt ATV's/quads and ended up with cars. Started with a bit of custom hot rods/cal look and then progressed to Performance Car where I stayed in that vein.

The posters I had up on the walls were all road cars but instead of the Athena posters I put up some of the pictures from the car mags. Some truly great pics of M1's, M3's and Integrale's.

First car poster I remember having on the bedroom wall was a Plymouth Prowler!

Before that it was mountain bike pics, only one I really remember is of Jason McCoy.

Well, since I missed the thread first time around... ;-)

I never really had calendars. had a mix of Ferrari road cars, BTCC cars with some signed drivers post cards framed, and rally cars of the day. I had a huge Porsche 959 for a long time and a 90s Alfa GTV / Spider poster too.

In among music and video games posted as I got older
