Lotus Eagle

Read bits & pieces about this (3.0 V6, 300bhp, mid engined 2+2 based on stretched Elise chassis, £40k)
Apparently Hethel are looking to put Esprit launch back to bring this forward to early 2009 - anyone have more knowledge on this?

If they do that for £40K, then there must be questions asked with regards to the pricing of the Exige/Elise. I thought they were billing the Eagle as the step between Elise/Exige/Europa and the Esprit.

I thought the chassis was to be VVA? Toyota v6 and more like £45-48K and will be launched at the motorshow July 2008.

Would be the only real chance of me owning a Lotus (unless I shift the Snot = very unlikely

No, eagle chassis wont be VVA. Was speaking to one of the engineers from Lotus at MPH, theyre reckoning the VVA is going to be too costly to put into production! Prices for Eagle quoted are starting at 45k. the first models are apparently going to be available in coupe and convertible versions with the 2+2 coming around 1 year later. There is a mule running round Hethel at the moment using an extended Exige chassis, reports are that the Toyota V6 is a peech and very "vocal".
Cant wait till the British Motorshow!

When at Lotus last week, was told it would be about £45k and that there would be various forms of the Eagle, as Scotty says: 2 seater and a 2+2. They said they definitely want it out before the Esprit and he said there were a couple of Eagles around Hethel, but I didn't see anything so they must have been in disguise!

Ah . . . so I *have* seen the Eagle! That's the "Esprit" that I mentioned going round the test track at Hethel.
We asked them what the hell it was, because we didn't think they were still making Esprits when 54 plates were around! I was then told by one of the dudes at dinner on the Monday night that there were several Eagles kicking around Hethel . . . that's obviously what he was talking about!
It pulled over and let me overtake it on the Lotus test track! Obviously can't be very fast!
