Buyers beware: Sport 135 WP51UZE

Post by Rich H » Wed Oct 31, 2007 10:03 am

Just in from NORLOG

There is a Sport 135 Reg: WP51UZE up for sale in Manchester that is a known write off, as one of NORLOG's members crashed it a few years back and got a full payout despite the car being worth £23,000.

Its actual state is unknown but it was comprehensibly smashed up. Its possible tat it is Cat C or even possibly Cat B but the seller does not appear to have been forthcoming with this info.

Buyer beware!

seller seems to have listed it as a 111... but has the non-111 diffuser, so guess it must be a 135 then

"WE RAC INSPECT ALL OUR CARS"

To be fair - its got a low low price on it - so they would probably mention it if you called and asked!

Surely anyone in their right mind would ask the dealer for a copy of the HPI report - if he can't produce it or refuses to do one for you.... you walk away (I don't know of any dealers who don't HPI the cars that they take in)

Someone on NORLOG did an HPI and it is clear!

The ex-owner is looking to see if he can find some paperwork but it is the right car. Got the same harness and snap-off steering wheel. Apparently pinballed it up a slip road in the wet and wrote it off!

mmmm clerical error... in which case, you can't really blame the dealer as they probably took it in part-ex in good faith. Probably still oblivious.

I managed to lose an owner off one of my previous cars due to a clerical error.

Hmm nice - that puts faith in the system, gorrie's right - if the car is clear then as far as the dealer knows - it's clear.

I wonder how many of our cars are as clear as we thought??
