New throttle linkages - group buy.....

Post by jj » Sat Feb 04, 2006 1:51 pm

Right chaps I am sick of a loose and squeaky throttle pedal - and this seems to be the solution. For £26 notes it also seems you cant go far wrong, so I am keen to try it.

Here is the info on what it will cost.

Shipping costs (to be shared between total number of people):-

1 - 5 items = 15.40 Euros
6 - 15 items = 18.20 Euros

So the cost per item in GBP with VAT at 19% including postage at an exchange rate of 0.68 is shown below:

Example for 6 - 6X Improved Throttle Linkage (Elise, Exige and 340R with K-series engines) (KSTL)

176.46 EUR

-----------------------

Sub-Total: 176.46 EUR

GLS Rates (Shipping to GB (1X 1,20Kg(s)): 18.20 EUR
BTW/VAT: 36.99 EUR
Total 231.65 EUR

Price Each: 38.61 EUR

Which is £26.38 at 0.68 Exchange Rate

# Items Each
1 £36.43
2 £30.17
3 £28.09
4 £27.04
5 £26.42
6 £26.38
7 £26.03
8 £25.76
9 £25.56
10 £25.39
11 £25.26
12 £25.15
13 £25.05
14 £24.97
15 £24.90

So if you want one post here and then once we have some interest I will order and pay for them and they will hopefully be here for East Fortune or sooner.

So yes put me down for one.

Should have said - these are from http://www.elise-shop.com and you an work out the prices on there (but I have done it already as above!)

They have sold 24+ in the last few days, so obviously a lot of people out there with pedal problems.

JJ.
Not to put a dampner on things but is the new cable etc for the S2.5 which does away with the multiplier bar not a better bet @ about £50.
http://www.exiges.com/ubbthreads/showfl ... &fpart=all

Which makes me think either do the brass bush that I have @ £5
http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... isheliseso

or fit the new cable and do away with the linkage @ £50 from Lotus( with no discount).
If we can find out the part number of the throttle cable then if it is from another car then I should be able to get it through my Dad's shops at a decent discount.

Stephen,

No dampner there, I think they are two solutions to the problem at different costs and levels of difficulty.

Spend 50notes and try to route that cable through my car, or spend 30ish and fit the new multiplier mechanism. The other problem is that most of the squeaking mine does is from the point at which that spring attaches to the pedal, so I run with it off. It doesnt look like that would be as easy with the new cable setup, but possible if using the new arm.

Im not trying to sell either but want to do something if I am keeping the car as it does my head in! :protest

OK put me down for one, I'll put it to one side for when it does go or I get bored. Looked at the cable swop but I was concerned about the throws and stuff, I would rather leave them well alone and just upgrade what's there.

Guys, good o'l Bob pointed me in this direction.. has been a while since I've been here :)

Fot those of you who don't know, I'm the guy who's running the 'front end business' of Elise-Shop. (the logistics isn't only me nowadays .. fortunately  )

The original idea of this kit came from Carlo (Elise_S1 at Seloc) who had installed the brass bush in his car but was still not happy with the feeling of the throttle pedal. He designed a solution based on a proper roller bearing which does all the movement action, but he also included two other small enhancements..

First of all, he has made the multiplication bar an adjustable multiplication bar by having more then one attachment point for the connecting rod to the throttle pedal. With this, you can select the original kind of throttle action, but you can also select it to open the butterfly valve in the TB quicker or slower. Specialy the last one migt be a very nice idea for high powered cars

The other enhancement was to introduce an offset in the linkage to line-up the connecting rod in a better way then it does now (the angle is a bit tacky).

The idea behind the throttle linkage is to make is a fit and forget product.

Every kit comes with an installation manual which includes pictures and all the fitting material you'd need to install the linkage. To give you a rough idea, I fitted the whole thing in one and a half hour INCLUDING all the pictures I made for the installation manual. This was in a dry garage, but not on a hoist or something. (advantage of making the pictures is that I had a lot of light :))

If you guys have any questions, please feel free to shoot! (or drop me a line at yvo@elise-shop.com)

If there's any need from anyone to combine with other products, let me know. If we're getting into big parcels, I'll try to figure out a way to make it all a little cheaper

When did VAT go up to 19%?

Stick me down for one two if they are suitable for the S2. I'm not happy with the uneven amounts of presure I need to apply to get a consistent throttle opening.

Cheers

erm... we're based in Holland (the Zandvoort country :P ) which leaves us to nothing else then charging local VAT for every citizen of the EU.. 19%

Hurray for the EU I'd say :?

JJ, I'll just plump for one of these as well. I've just replaced my throttle cable and I've read of some issues for the new Lotus solution, if you've got large plates-of-meat.
