Crieff local knowledge required...

Post by rossybee » Tue Oct 23, 2007 11:44 am

Wife & I have been invited to a wedding at Crieff Hydro Hotel on Sat 15th Dec - even got babysitters sorted - great we thought!

Wife phones hotel to book a room at "preferential" rate due to being wedding guests

Lack of availability, she calls Hotel Connexions, same story - busy time due to party nights etc :(

The invitations also list the following B&Bs, all on Perth Road which doesn't look too far away (staggering p!shed on way home might be a different story  )

Merlindale Guest house
Arduthie House
Galvelbeg House
Glenearn House
Kingarth House

Have had a quick look at their websites, but would be appreciative of any recommendations from the above (or others) - bearing in mind closeness to the Hydro is a major factor

Thanks in advance :D

Must resist any comments about him being welcome to her and added reference to Visa bill etc...

In order of preference.....

The Hydro has a sister hotel within 100 yds of the Main Gate
(Murraypark Hotel).......although you would have thought the reservation staff would have checked availability on that as well?

Merlindale - Run by John and Jackie Clifford as a posh B&B
Safe Choice with possible "sunken baths and baby oil" adventures

The Glenearn Boarding House has recently been renovated/rebuilt.....It used to be a Morrison's Academy Boarding House!!. Current owner is a car dealer so has a Large /safe car park housing Lambo's/Beemers and Mercs.

Galvebeg .....directly across the road from Glenearn ....also OK

Arduthie........used to be a hotel, recently changed hands,no recent feedback as to how good or bad

Kingarth.......Been operating since Adam was a Lad........and probably never been decorated since then either!!

Iain, thanks for the above - no answer from the Murraypark so have emailed them.

From the others, are they all within walking distance?

Which would you recommend? (Merlindale & Glenearn seem favourites from you comments & their websites)

Cheers!

Merlindale first .....
Glenearn a close second
Both within a 10 minute stagger (downhill) from the Hydro.
