New Exige owner SOS @ Ft William right now
Dave picked his car up on Monday and took the better half up north this weekend.
MIL came on at Ft Bill and he at a loss and I know feck all about these new fangled cars.
Thoughts ? Checks ? Low loader ? Drivable ?

Mine has had the light on a few times when I go from maybe 5th to 3rd in a hurry. It goes into a sort of limp home mode and revs itself to 2krpm to keep you going. The minute you put your foot on the throttle power cuts completely.
To fix it I just pull over, cut the ignition for a minute or two and she starts up fine.

erm, not that I am the most technically minded, but that doesn't sound good. Over revving on the downshift is probably the quickest way to kill the yota engine. The fact that the MIL light is coming on cant be goodBada Bing! wrote:Mine has had the light on a few times when I go from maybe 5th to 3rd in a hurry. MIL light can come on for loads of reasons - not neccessarily an issue.
I'd check the basics on the engine - oil level etc etc
From there it can even reset itself and go off!
The car does have a safety mode, which will disable 2nd cam if the ecu thinks the engine is in serious difficulties.
My 111r had the MIL light on for the bext part of a year (after the new engine) - piece of sh*t.
No mil lights on atom

Has the pipercross had its filter cleaned recently? If so, that could be the cause.
My Hurricane didn't cause any major MIL problems (and Richie is now enjoying it on his car without any MIL problems). It just came on when I first fitted it and once after I cleaned the filter, since the cleaner filter was letting more air in and hence caused a "System too lean" error code.
First time, read out the code with an OBD thingy and then reset it and the ECU adjusted the fuel mix to compensate. Second time, just let it idle for about 15 mins and it went off. Again, this was because the fault had not re-occurred and the ECU had adjusted the fuel mix.
Tell him to let it idle for a while then put engine off and back on again. Also, if it doesn't re-occur a few times within a couple of days it'll eventually go off.

cheers guys.....light was still on till today and have taken it to MMC. They are going to re-flash the ECU and we'll see if it happens again - only had it 7 days though! Made it back from skye in one piece in torrential rain - one slightly grumpy girlfriend with a sore back..............think induction kit is more trouble than its worth?
ps also getting new resistor fitted ;-(
