Yes, I think he would have been in with a chance of winning class A in the endurance race as a solo driver - he shared with Matt Bartlett (who is a jolly nice chap, btw) and though Matt is by no means slow, Skeggs/Donnolly are both very quick, so by the time they did the driver changes, Neil had about 30s to catch up.
He did catch him up, but partly because Donnolly was "resting" the car (he'd worked it very hard in the previous race and it lost a driveshaft and a load of gearbox fluid - no more flat shifting, please) and mostly because there was an insane golf with 100's of BHP that kept catching Donnolly on the straights and then tussling in the corners (this golf actually ended up pirouetting across the start/finish straight on just the front left wheel when he launched it across the kerb at the end of the last lap!!).
Neil was pleased to note that with Steve Williams (his main competition in class B) co-driving two other class A cars, Neil's best lap in Matt's car was a good few seconds a lap faster than Steve's in either of the other two cars (all three ~PTP170 spec I think) - with the reg changes for next year looking like a drop in BHP in class B, that might make things a bit closer (assuming he doesn't switch to class A instead).
Of interest to some will also be Peter Frith's (sp?) result in the Caterham MegaGrad - he ended up P1 in their second race (I bumped into him on the plane home) - I've met Peter a few time over at Lawrence's, and I'm sure the 7's fans on this list will know him.
Cheers,
Robin
