winter tyre choice - 048's for now!

no doubt the same question posed by most noobies with winter approaching. Recently taken possession of an Exige and whilst the 48's are awesome in the dry I had my first wet day commuting to work on Tues.....whilst its possible to be careful when wet/icy I can see it being less fun dealing with standing water and such winter nasties! Any recommendations on what tyres to fit for the winter to make my only car and daily commute a little more useable?
any advice welcome apart from a)buy another car b)stop being a nonce!!!

039s were awesome on my S2 Exige, but they dont last that long (my rears were nearing end of life at about 6k) and they are pricey.
I have T1Rs on my S1 Exige just now and they will be perfect for winter (and were surprisingly not that pish on track)

Dave yes I have T1Rs on my S2 Exige after 27,000 miles with A048s. They are awesome in the wet but obviously not as good in the dry. The Exige is really set up to run on A048s so in the dry you cant beat them. The T1Rs should last longer although maybe not after my Walshy Day.
Where are you based? You are welcome to come for a run in my car to see how the T1Rs perform. Give us a shout.

Mate,
It wouldn't be the tyres that let you down on track

Yes - love my skiing - another way to get my speed fix

Have not skied in Scotland since Uni (4 yrs ago) a real shame
Would not havee been my Exige as I sold it almost a year ago
Used it every day come snow or sun on 48s no worries. Pic taken in the Gyle car park after a pre work hoon
