Hi peeps,
Apogies if this is a re-post but I'm on a hand-held so navigation on this site isn't too easy.
This weekend is ADMC sprint at Alford. Rounds of the SSC and HSC.
I'll be competing both days in my Westfield and on Sunday, I'll be giving the Exige a tanning.
The forecast looks good and it's a great venue for spectators.
If you've nothing else to do on Sunday, you may witness me having to get the bus to work on Monday.
If you come along; please do say f'like. Car 44 both days and car 39 as well on Sunday.
Cracking motorsport - cheapo saloon cars up to mental single seaters worth >£100k.
Come and support the grass roots of Scottish motorsport.
Cheers,
Eric

Was a great day out, though I could only make a few hours on the Sunday.
Watched Eric's new car lose it's track virginity with two drivers and survive intact!
Wallace's stunning DJ Firehawk got fastest time of the day and a new track record to boot, despite not running the rear bodywork. Eric, any idea why this was ?

I do not have the Alford results, but from the results upto then, I presume that Graeme Bremner has won the overall Scottish Sprint Championship with his Exige?

Aye Tut, that is indeed the case.
John, not sure about Wallace's car.

Eric, how did it go? Your Exige time vs the purple things time? TC or no TC?

Both the S1 and the VX had over two seconds on me and I don't think Graeme was pushing. I'd been naïve in thinking I'd be fast as buggery first time out.
The VX (Martin Smith) actually took the class and class record. Good effort.
Did one run with TC on and then switched it off for the rest of the day. Just like you told me, impossible to get off the line. It also held me back getting on the gas out of corners.
Fine for the South Deeside road on an autumn evening but on track - it stays off.
Best (last) run was a 59.75. To put that into perspective, I'd been in the 53's in the MegaBusa the day before.
Most interesting thing was the roll (which you'll see from the pic above). I'd actually looked out the spanners and instructions for stiffening / lowering the night before but decided not to since it appears to be plenty stiff on the road - mistake.
Initially, I thought it was understeering a bit but by the end of the day got it going good by being a bit braver on the gas through the corners.
I don't know if you heard but the Westfield suffered terminal problems on Saturday afternoon. Whatever bearings were in the reverse box would appear to be mush now. Another winter job (reverse box gets binned).
I'd managed one timed run though and it was enough for the class ... since the guy who should have taken the class (Drew Murray) went the wrong way on both his timed runs.
Anyway, that's that. Don't think I'll be running the Exige on any small tight tracks again but maybe one of the faster venues would be good. Lossie springs to mind.
Might be meeting Murray and JohnS for a beer on Thursday. Fancy it?
Cheers,
Eric

Warms my heart Eric.
Graeme saw that I could have possibly won the overall Sprint Championship in 2005 if I had not gone into hospital, so when my car spec was banned from A8 in 2006, he bought a K series Exige which allows you to use a S/C or T/C, and averaged close to the max 32 points for eight events this year.
Wonder what they will write into the MSA regs next year.............
