When my house was getting built I got them to add a garage and put roller doors at each end. I had up and over doors on a lock up in Livingston and they were a pain in the backside and often breaking. The builders were so pleased with the roller doors they fitted on my house that they started fitting roller doors as standard on their houses with garages. Not had any problems with either in 12 years. Gives you far more useful storage space in the roof area and you can squeeze more into the garage as well.

For standard doors just go to wickes

or B&Q

or Screwfix

for electric roller doors then the choice is less as these are all made to measure and almost all I've seen, seem to be made by
http://www.gliderol.co.uk/
they may only sell through a dealer network and are 1.2K upwards IIRC

Just checked mine and they are inded gliderol doors. After 12 years the finish is still in very good condition. Mine are just manual but no need to use the chain as they slide up and down by hand easily. I have one at either end so I could put a vehicle in the back garden if the need arouse. My stone built Garage is about 10 foot wide by about 22 foot long with a large loft space and with the 2 roller doors cost me an additional £5500 at the time of building which I think was great value.

I've just fitted a glideroll door. Made to measure large single opening, fitted myself* for 650.
They have prices here
http://www.diygaragedoors.co.uk/swssg.htm but you can get them cheaper, I'll have to check for my suppliers details. You measure the gap yourself and they deliver...

*OK my joiner helped. Quite a lot. Then my engineer friend helped me fix it as we didn't quite read teh instructions properly... PM me if you want ot come and see it, once you've seen howit goes up I think you would be pretty confident to fit one yourself.
