Superficial Damage Repair / slight customisation of front cl

Post by EliseR » Tue Sep 04, 2007 3:44 pm

Have a look at this pic:
Image

Area 1 & 2 have both been damaged on my car, I kerbed it in dalry ages ago. First of all I want to get this sorted...about 1cm has snapped off each area and left the white material underneath exposed.

I was told that the Chrome Orange paint is a nightmare to match, anyone here had much experience of a Chrome Orange paint repair?

Secondly, area 3 - my front plate just keeps falling off - anyone here been able to hide this area? Would a front splitter help?

Taking of front splitters, do you think there is one where it would hide all three areas?

And yes, I realise with a splitter, I need to be even MORE careful with height from ground.

Watch out for kerbs in the future, and chuck your plate in the boot!

Kerbed it within a week - just the damage is obviously getting worse with t being an "open wound" so to speak.

Steve Walkers bodyshop in Livingston quoted me £350 for the work, and he was clearly sh1tting bricks about the Orange paintwork. He said it required four coats of some specially selected paints to match.

Splitter will cover most of 1&2 but if you belt it off a kerb it can rip a big chunk out of the clam... Possibly not a good idea!

Its the same splitter i have and it doesnt cover areas 1 & 2... They lean over the splitter... (Dont have my car just now so cant show you) Looks better tho  IMO... But if your hitting 1 & 2 that easilly i'd be scared to see what happens when you stick the splitter on it - as it hits EVERYTHING... Broke 2 already...

I use a double sided tape for the plate thats almost unmovable - i've got some at home if you want it mate? Although i'm guessing once you put the plate on with it - its going to be hard to get it off!!

My old s2 had a fair bit of damage to the "ears" at the front - marked 1 and 2 on your pic.

They had been touched in and the splitter hid most of the damage. Depends how fussy you are I guess.
