MMC positive feedback

Post by bigrichi » Mon Sep 03, 2007 4:03 pm

posted earlier that the interior fan was only working on 2 speeds last week.

i phoned MMC regards booking the car in to get it looked at.

when i spoke to MMC on friday (31/08/2007 and last day of warranty) a few eyebrows were raised over wether it would be covered under warranty due to the fact that when they look at the car it would be out of warranty.

a few phone calls were made by MMC and confirmed that if it is a fault covered by warranty then they would cover the work as i contacted them when the car was covered by a warranty.

just spoke to Bill at MMC and he is begining work and lotus have approved the repair.

i know this isnt out of the ordinary and it is what i should expect to happen but i was worried that, after reading bad reports about MMC that they (or any dealer for that matter) may try and dodge the claim.

after some of the bad posts about them i thought it was good to write a post about something positive.

just need to wait and see how the car comes back now.......

Bill saw sense and ordered the resistor pack for my gubbed fan as well, saving me the 150 mile trip just to confirm that's what it was. I was very chuffed as I just didn't have the time to drive out there and back on Friday.

It should have really been suggested to begin with though. Even if the inspection could have taken place at the Glasgow branch that would have been fine. They really need to sort out their service presense in Scotland, as having one branch simply isn't good enough.

I'm all for one sales branch to help keep the value of our cars at sensible leves, but they NEED more than one service branch to save the stupid amount of miles we're all racking up just going to and from there for warranty work/servicing etc.

Gaz, I totally agree with you that it is a pain travelling to Edinburgh for service etc and takes lots of organising ( time off work /lifts etc.) to get anything sorted.
Twice that I can remember Murray have opened Lotus branches in Glasgow only for them to close after a couple of years.
I guess it must be a bit of a balancing act to have Lotus trained mechanics, equipment /spares etc in 2 locations against how much extra business it brings - given that lots of owners go elsewhere I guess it is a bit of a catch 22.
However access to (dealer) service in Glasgow would make me happier. Keith

update

Post by bigrichi » Wed Sep 05, 2007 10:47 am

well picked the car up last night.

as i pull up its sittin waitin on me parked nicely amongst the aston martins.

the car has been cleaned, the wheels cleaned, tyres dressed etc and as i jump in they have given it a hoover out as well.

so thumbs up so far

well the fan is workin anyway so lookin good for the winter months.

then as i'm drivin home (8pm ish) its getting a bit dusky so stick the lights on. i've posted before about the problems i'm having with lights so didn't expect much from just the sidelights workin cos the bulbs are blown on the other ones but thought better than nothing and means folk behind me wont run up my chuff.

low and behold when i pull up i notice the lights reflecting in the car in front of me and MMC have only gone and fitted new bulbs for me as well.

big shout out to Bill & MMC on a good job and hopefully everything stays together and working....we shall see
