Well now I own two rear drive cars

Post by jamie » Sat Jan 21, 2006 11:01 pm

I now have a mid engine rear wheel drive car AND a rear engine rear wheel drive car. :D

OK so one of them is a Smart car

Took the 0730  train down to York managed to get this shot on my phone
Image

Got to the dealer no probs the cars there so go to sort out the paper work.
The dealer takes my card to relive me of my cash. The smart lad tried to bypass the pin three times locking my card :x
I then try to phone my branch, nope not open :x
I have to go and find a branch and get my card unlocked
Come back and write a check cos the guy clearly cant use the machine.

Drama over I drive the car back up to the Burgh managed 230 miles in 31/2 hours :D
Think the speedo might be a bit optimistic as I had it off the gauge :D

This all means that the Exige gets to come out at weekends and I just do the miles I want to do in it and no more bump parkers having their way with the Exige :D

The Smart certainly does not have the same motorway presence as the Exige. No one wants to get passed by the wee beastie

Miss mine. As I said on Saturday, you need to tune it- great fun to be had!

I saw a bargain LHD one yesterday in the Autotrader which I was up for buying but it was sold when I called. :(

Looks nice, I just drove one today actually. My ex is looking to replace the Lupo that she pounded into the wall last September. Surprisingly I loved the paddle shift!

How come you travelled to York to get one?

The dealer in York will shoot himself in the foot to sell a car. This car should have been sold for £1800 more but he has to get rid of stock. The dealer in the Burgh cant be arsed, was selling a car with less spec same age for £2500 more

Hey Dave, my ex is still considering a For Two cabrio advertised down at down at Westerns at £6995. It was Dave that she's been dealing with - he said she could have it for £6750. think you could work your magic anymore with him? :)

Think I will focus on theExige for a bit :D

Sooo have you driven the car with the suspension? You like?

Also was meaning to ask have you looked into if you need to upgrade any other bits I know that the 48s put a fair bit more load through things like the toe links etc. Might be worth checking if Exige toe links and wishbones etc are the same as the 111Rs. Just a thought. :)

They are the same, although the performance pack has the additional 'double shear' rear toe link brace.

Cheers,

those double shear will be the ones from the 240R then?

Alistair McQueen said that they found that the toes could pop out in the 240R when pushing it... so they doubled up something on them...

Interesting - I thought the toe link brace thingy was only part of the new 06 Super Sport pack - I don't remember there being any mention of it in the spec for Perferformance Pack. Has your car definitely got one?

Hi Jamie

Do quite like it, and it was a very easy job (cheers Shug and Hambo) :)

Haven't had a chance to take it for a spin, although through Glasgow on saturday and Sunday the roads were really greasy and the A048's were spining a fair bit.

Felt a bit stiffer on the go and could feel a bit more vibration above 80.

Its all good though and looking forward to next weekend, when i get back from business, to take it for a run :D
